Officers responded to a report of a Ford Expedition traveling east in the westbound lanes of Jericho Turnpike in Commack at 12:50 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

An officer drove up behind the Ford with lights and siren activated, but the driver did not pull over, SCPD said.

The officer then passed the Ford and positioned the police vehicle in front of it, gradually slowing his vehicle down until it came to a stop with the Ford stopped behind it, police said.

SCPD said the officer saw that the driver, identified as 51-year-old Susan Charan, of Hicksville, was intoxicated.

Charan was charged with driving while intoxicated and issued summonses for traffic violations, police said.

She is set to be arraigned later on Wednesday, authorities reported.
